Filling Orders Efficiently.

Every order generates bar code stickers for cases or for bottle picks. Cases for high volume items are positioned next to the conveyor pick lines. Less common items have to be picked from remote locations and inducted onto the pick lines. The pick team starts at 7pm each night to assemble orders before the next day's deliveries. The delivery routes that are furthest away from the distribution center are picked first.

The bottles are picked with "Voice-Pick" technology. Each bottle line employee wears a headset and a wrist scanner. The system reads the location of the product to them and they confirm the correct pick by scanning the bar code on the specific location. Each bottle order has a corresponding box with a bar code that is given a final check at the end of the line.

This sortation system automatically sorts the boxes to the correct truck to be loaded. Any box which doesn't go through the final scan is noted and found or is marked 'Not in Stock' and removed from invoices before being printed. Olinger currently runs three-case pick lines and one-bottle line and has picked as many as 25,000 cases in one night.
